The Center for Work Education & Employment (CWEE) partnered with EPIC to explore child care solutions that could help close critical gaps for the families CWEE serves. Together, they conducted feasibility studies to evaluate on-site child care, support for informal caregivers, and financial assistance options for career-seeking parents participating in CWEE’s program.
The Center for Work Education & Employment (CWEE) supports low-income, career-seeking parents in the Denver area by offering holistic services in three tracks: foundational support (housing, childcare, transportation), wellness (trauma-informed care, emotional regulation), and employment & education (job readiness, resume/interview help, pathways into trades or college).
Because CWEE’s mission is to help families move toward stable employment and self-sufficiency, the child care crisis struck at the core of their work: without affordable, accessible care, many of the parents they serve could not reliably work, train, or retain jobs. Thus addressing gaps in childcare, policy, funding and informal caregiver supports was essential to CWEE’s ability to fulfill its mission.
CWEE, in partnership with EPIC, explored a multi-faceted approach that brings quality care closer to families, strengthens support for informal caregivers and explores direct financial assistance for immediate relief. This model acknowledges families’ diverse needs and prioritizes culturally competent, trust-based solutions that reflect the realities of participants’ lives.
Feasibility studies for on-site care, informal caregiver support and direct financial aid have been completed, providing CWEE with clear implementation pathways despite ongoing funding challenges.
The initiative is now moving from analysis to action, with partnerships forming to deliver immediate relief while building long-term systemic change.
